Noise

It starts as just irritation. A metaphorical crawling under your skin. Things are too noisy, too bright, there is too much happening all the time and you can't take it all in-

Then silence it, make it yours, make it you, take control and destroy what will not submit

It sounds so inviting, a freedom from the noise, but its wrong, its wrong, its wrong and the noise is getting louder, mechanical and foreboding as it sees you, it knows you are there, and it wants to make you apart of it.

For a moment, there is quiet.

You breathe.

[ Hunter grips his staff hard at that. ]

You’re not absorbing any of them either! And DEFINTIELY not me!

[ He blinks behind Donnie with his staff, moving to hit him over the head. ]

[The tail whips up to block the strike and the Technodrone finally looks back at him.]

[And then many eyes open up around them and Hunter can feel something crawling at his ankles as the tendrils that make up the main console start to climb up his legs.]

They always choose to be difficult.

[ Hunter lets out a muffled scream as the tendrils start snaking up his legs. He swears and cuts down with the staff, summoning up some fire magic. ]

Of course we will! Every time!

[Hunter manages to burn the tendrils because they can dig in!]

[Technodrone flinches as part of his face seems burned away despite not being hit by fire, only to be replaced by more pink and a large yellow eye.]

[He stands up, more whispers under his voice.]

I will oblige if you want it to be a fight.

[ Hunter keeps his staff up then, panting a little. already eying spots on the ground where he can draw glyphs with his staff. ]

Are you really going to listen if I try to talk to you?? Is there any way to convince you to stop?

I am providing him the power he desires.

He doesn't want it like this!

He asked for it. He spent so long ignoring the power he could have and he finally accepted his fate.

No.

[ Hunter brandishes his staff again. ]

Consent isn't something you give once.

He hasn't tried to leave. [Tentacles start to form from the walls and ceiling.]

That's not the same as wanting this. I didn't try to leave Belos either until I was forced to.

[ he starts drawing a symbol on the ground with the butt of his staff. ]

He was a weak man who couldn't even keep children under control. Hardly the same.

[And as soon as he starts to draw, tentacles are shooting out to attack him.]

We'll need to assimilate you now.

Muck--!

[ The last swipe of his staff has to be done in a hurry, so this ice is less of a stab and more of a blort. It still rushes to meet the tentacles coming for him. ]

[Very important, he still on the console]

[ SURE IS ]

[Welp]

[The ice does help guard him from the tentacles that came for Hunter, if barely.]

[The ice doesn't touch the Technodrone, whose moved away from the ice.]

[There is still a flinch as the turtle arm is covered in ice and shattered and there's another Kraang arm.]

[A wicked grin spreads across the Technodrone's face.] I insist. Assimilation sooner is better than later.]

[And now tentacles raise up from the floor around the console, reaching to grab at Hunter again.]

[ Hunter stares in horror for a moment as he realizes the ice has - destroyed a turtle arm?? Hurt it at least, and titan, the last thing he wants to do is hurt Donnie -

He yelps as he realizes the tentacles are drawing closer and tries to blink away. ]

[He will be able to blink away]

[But not before a tentacle has dug into his leg, under his skin-]

Don't you want to belong? Don't you want to be strong? There is no need to be afraid with the Kraang, you are the Kraang, and nothing will be able to hurt you again

[Its not an overwhelming feeling, but it is Tempting.]

[ Ah -

It IS tempting. Especially to Hunter, who has always struggled with magic - who has always been a powerless witch, treated as less than a person for his disability, murdered dozens of times because Belos tired of him -

But he knows THIS feeling too. It's wrong. It's not REAL. He can nearly hear Belos echoed in those words.

With a cry of pain, he swings his staff down at the tentacle to try and smash it away from him. ]

[A staff doesn't do much to truly damage the tentacle, but it is enough to make it loosen his hold and get away.]

[ Hunter scrambles away a few paces, breathing hard. ]

I ... I can't beat you. Can I?

Nothing can beat the Kraang. All the blue one did was separate Kraang Prime, but there is still sister. And there is still me and this creature. If he is not strong enough to return on his own, then the rest of us will adapt. Survive. And grow.

[The tentacles, however, are not stopping their pursuit. They are going to keep trying to grab onto Hunter.]

[ He needs to destroy this whole place, doesn't he? Won't that hurt Donnie? But - Donnie's clearly hurting already -

He hops back on his staff, dragging a bloodied hand along the floor as he starts drawing a massive glyph in this room. Fire this time. If he can scorch EVERYTHING then maybe that will help?

Or, well, that's what he's TRYING to do, until the tentacles manage to yank him off his staff this time, sending the stick flying off into the shadows of the room. ]

-- e-even if I can't help, someone else will! Everyone wants Donnie to come back to himself! We love him!

And you could love him if you just give in. We aren't trying to get rid of the purple one, or even you.

The Kraang is to bring perfection to you lesser beings.

[Turtkin has gone skittering across the floor, but there is a pulse of something in the palismen at the words. And elsewhere.]

[The turtkin scrambles up the main console, looking insides and]

[Here!]

[ Hunter's head jolts up at htat. He thought he heard - felt? a voice.

The console ...

He struggles to his feet, holding the arm that he skidded on when he fell off the staff. Edging closer to it, trying to keep the Kraang distracted. ]

What does perfection look like? For me.
