[Raph gets a hand on the donbot and there's a twitching of the limbs, the eyes lighting up, as he gets half pulled out, but the tentacles are stubbornly holding on.]

But half out is better than all the way stuck no matter how you slice it. And there's no words for how relieved he is to see those eyes light up.

As with most issues, that only really comes together in Raph's head now that he's out there in the middle of it. ]

I love you. I'm so proud of you. Nothing's ever gonna change that. Ever. I ain't always great with words either, but I think that kinda works for us? You know I don't say this stuff if I don't mean it.

[ He doesn't have Leo's perception. Mikey's intuition. April's way of getting stuff enough to be able to break it down into pieces that make sense. It's just him and Donnie, putting in the work to lay out straight lines to each other. No talking around the point. No real talent for subtlety. Nice and straightforward.

So he's gonna try something. And if it doesn't help, doesn't work, he'll pick another angle and try that one twice as hard. Again and again. He'll run his face into this corruption stuff until it gets so tired of him it burns out on its own. Trial and error. ]

[ He keeps his grip on Donbot tight. Takes a breath and lets mystic shielding crawl up and over his forearms, not so much for the shielding itself or a strength boost as for the sense of connection. The visualization of it.

They're both here. Him and Donnie. That means they're both trying. Catherine is out here, somewhere, and she's trying.

None of them are doing this alone.

Wanna know a secret?

[ Raph sends out safety through the ninpo.

Not a promise of it. Not a sense of his own protectiveness. Not an attempt at reassurance. Just safety, conceptually. A feeling, a half-memory, a Raph perspective. Things going from terrible to still. Knowing it's okay to close his eyes and lean on someone and breathe, for a few minutes. To go quiet.

Raph sends out safety and safety lights up as clear, unfiltered purple. ]

[Donnie knows Raph doesn't say that stuff if he doesn't mean it. Raph isn't much better than Donnie when it comes to lies.]

[But sometimes he wonders if that straight forwardness might come crashing down. Because once Raph was done with him, he would be done. What if Donnie pushes too far, what if this line he crosses is the one that is too much, what if, what if, what if, the little insecurities that the Corruption twisted from small cracks to gaping holes, until he believed his relationship with his family is only destined to end in heartbreak because he can never be as good as they are.]

[So why not control when it happened?]

[He knows Raph loves him, but how long would it last?]

[But he wanted to reach out, he wanted to hold onto Raph, he wanted to keep these relationships despite the doubts and fears and even the Corruption, and it hurt to resign himself to the destruction in the name of safety and the teal and Kraang dug in deep, kept any shred of common sense down.]

[Then there is red at first, a red that sparks his own purple, that wants to connect, sparking along the robotic form in pixels. Getting stronger, but not there-]

[Not until there is a pure emotion through the ninpo.]

[Another color in the red, not from him, but Raph and-]

[Talking with Raph in the lab about the Donnie Pods and while the technicals clearly go over his head, he can see Raph is paying attention to the way it operates, the special settings in his because he knows Raph will find a way to stay if someone is left behind, and would make sure everyone would get inside so they could be safe.

The pods are partially for his own peace of mind. But he can also see that some of the tension that Raph had been holding since his last fight with Leo was melting away and maybe its not much, but there is always a feeling of happy pride when he can help Raph feel better.]

[Red flashes and connects to purple, energy flaring out around them, banishing the tentacles to the far corners of the room, now losing their pink color, turning teal and slowly withering away.]

[And the Donnie bot goes flying into Raph's arms, face lighting up, movement turning to his limbs as he wraps his arms as best he can and fiercely around his big brother.]

[ SUCCESS. Another little guy freed. The relief cannot be overstated. Another perspective-shift on a memory that he tucks away to have a lot of feelings about.

Raph stumbles backwards, thrown off by the sudden lack of gross tentacle resistance and the momentum of a Donnie flying right on into his arms, but neither of them ends up teetering towards the pit so that's another victory. It counts.

He is more than happy to add another hug to his hug inventory. Each one only makes him stronger. ]

It's nothing to worry about. It may not be the most emotionally competent thing objectively speaking, but it functions well for me. I don't think it can be gotten rid of without changing something about me fundamentally.
