Noise.
It starts as just irritation. A metaphorical crawling under your skin. Things are too noisy, too bright, there is too much happening all the time and you can't take it all in-
It sounds so inviting, a freedom from the noise, but its wrong, its wrong, its wrong and the noise is getting louder, mechanical and foreboding as it sees you, it knows you are there, and it wants to make you apart of it.
For a moment, there is quiet.
You breathe.
And fall through water.

Then silence it, make it yours, make it you, take control and destroy what will not submit

The Lab
[There is so much tech around, machines from HD TVs to cleaning robots to lasers to a black hole generator. There are screens upon screens of ideas, some machines grandiose like a space ships and others are simpler, like a dam system for the river in snek. There are designs for the greenhouse and kitchens and a flower garden. There are artillery defenses and escape pods.]
[The more you look, the more ideas you see for a machine. It may be a little overwhelming to imagine any one person is able to come up with so many ideas, let alone ideas that have at least half done schematics into making it a reality.]
[There is an ease here. Its easy to breathe amongst the tech.]
[The only thing that is wrong is the anthropomorphic purple turtle robot, a model that looks to be Donnie if he was a red eared slider, with the rounder shell, though the red markings on his face are made of a circuitry pattern. He also has a chain around his neck, attached to a table, with schematics of how to make a lowtech wall waterfall, and traps in a corridor, and notes and theories on something more runic, magical based writing.]
[There is a blue box just out of reach of the chain of the working figure.]
Re: The Lab
[she's seen a place like this before - she's been inside Masego's mind, seeking the means to help him purge the madness he'd witnessed from his mind, during Second Liesse. pure ambition, but the yearning to understand underneath it all ...]
Snake's got no right to make you make anything of this you wouldn't on your own. [she says it quietly, but furiously, angry on his behalf.] I couldn't keep up with half of it, could I. Hope I can figure out how I won't need to try.
[she shakes her head, raises her voice.]
Hey. What's in the box?
Re: The Lab
Something that remains Schrodinger's Cat for what it is.
Re: The Lab
Which makes me wonder ... [she starts to approach from behind, near to the box - genuinely not trying to start something (yet), just take it all in some more, see if she can start to piece together "what" it is. one machine? many? many machine all for the same purpose? it's like a one-man Arsenal in here.] ... well, what do you want to make?
Re: The Lab
[Simply a box, on the outside. Perfectly sealed. There is no latch, there is no seam, no obvious way to open it, even as it glows blue.]
I'm not so bothered by woulds. Shoulds. All those other words that rhythm with could. That is the point of having those around me. If I'm crossing a line, they're supposed to reign me in, that's the give and take. I give them all they could want or need, and they keep me from being dangerous.
Its a good system.
[He does straighten up and looks up at all the things around him.] Because I want to make everything.
If only they weren't so restrictive right now... [He scratches at the chain around his neck.] But what can you do?
Re: The Lab
There's worse things in the world than having friends who don't agree with your way of looking at the world. Saved me from many a bad decision.
[she rests one hand on the box, experimentally.]
That said - speaking of "would" and "should" - what's with the change in appearance, Donnie? And no, I don't mean the uhh ... "circuits"? That's what they're called, right?
[complex electrical machinery's a bit past her civilization level.]
Re: The Lab
They're called circuits.
Also that would be something to talk to Dr. Feelings about. Mindscapes are weird. Probably associations. [He waves a hand in the air, pulling down another screen to work on.]
[There's a knocking on the box.]
[Even, but extremely persistent, light pulsing.]
Re: The Lab
I mean, if I were meant to be talking to Dr. Feelings, I assume I'd have found my way to him. But I'm talking to you. Do you have a name like "Dr. Feelings", too?
[she gives the box a small knuckle-rap in return.]
Re: The Lab
[Another knock back, matching her pattern.]
Re: The Lab
[tippty-tap.]
What's a cat got to do with what's in the box, Donnie? Not a metaphor they have where I'm from - what's supposed to be in there, then?
Re: The Lab
[Unless, of course, the parts who Take In Those Checks are broken.]
Its a thought experiment. To put it simply, you put a cat, something with a variable radioactive half life, and a poison in a box. The poison will be released based on the decay of the radioactive material. However, since its variable, there is no guarantee the poison will be released.
The question becomes is the cat alive, or is the cat dead? How do you determine it if the means of death is not able to be calculated as happening?
You must open the box and observe it.
That is the specifics, but it can apply when any one thing can really be two things and its difficult to say which without being able to properly observe it. That box isn't life or death.
[Tippty-tap.]
Re: The Lab
[and that thought occurs to her just after he says it: Wait. The people might be available, but what about the mechanism?]
[so she looks about at the monitors.]
You've got a mechanism for taking in that information, right? Our "checks". Can you pull it up for me on one of these viewing ports, Donnie?
[she tilts her head, acknowledging the end of what he's saying.] After all - can't say it's "working" or "not working" until someone observes it, right?
Re: The Lab
[A more insistent knocking.]
Of course I have a means of taking in that information.
[He pulls up a screen and]
[Its]
[Its all just a swirl of pink and A Specific Kind Of Teal. (snek)]
See? Its working perfectly fine.

Hey, Donnie. I come bearing gifts.
[there's just the refurbished Bits-Breaker in one hand, of course.]
Re: The Lab
[Leo rolls his eyes to the side.]
Re: The Lab
[and she just lifts the Bits breaker and brings it down to sever that chain.]
Re: The Lab
[And Bits Breaker is VERY EFFECTIVE at breaking the chain because any strength it had is pretty weakened at this point.]
[He jumps back. Startled.]
[Blinks.]
Oh. Wow, I'm hungry.
Re: The Lab
Yeah, I don't doubt it. I bet somebody's got some "pizza" already ready for you to eat somewhere else in this heart, though.
Re: The Lab
[Leo coming over and draping an arm over Donnie.] At least you're getting some sleep, though for the record? Force unconsciousness is not real sleep so I hope you actually get some doctor no sleep for Four Days.
Like you can talk.
Zero hours, hermano. ZERO!
Re: The Lab
... Mouse has an oven that creates endless pizza, you know.
[is this a good idea? maybe not. will it result in Constant Donatello Hamato? probably yes. she'll live with the consequences.]
Re: The Lab
I know. Hunter learned about pizza from me and it was truly the best decision he could have ever made!
Re: The Lab
Oh, that was you, was it. Well, thank you. Now nobody on Mouse ever goes unfed for lack of remembering to eat, at that.
Re: The Lab
Yeah, no, I've had to break into his lab enough times to make sure he eats. No thanks.
[He preens at that.] That's because pizza is the best food! It has a consistent base, but the toppings can be altered to suit anyone's tastes and never get boring!
Re: The Lab
I'm guessing your dad introduced you to pizza the first time?
